Diesel spends the workdays in a standard dog kennel in the basement. The idea here was to allow him to have a climate controlled dog house with a way for him to go outside if he wants. Here is a 12 foot by 8 foot indoor outdoor kennel. This was the first major project that was completed after moving in to the house. It sits in a sandy are where there was an above ground pool. The pool had to go. A quick ad on craigslist and the pool went fast. The kennel was started. It is complete with electrical, HVAC, and a floor drain. Below is some of the photos of the process to build the kennel. There are more photos in my Google Photo album here. This project was also the first project where I made computer drawings to help plan and execute the build. The plans made me think of things in a logical building order and helped me calculate material. Without the drawings, this would have taken much longer than it did. The kennel is complete, but the training is not. Diesel is pictured in many of the photos. He really hates the kennel, and hates being left in it. He prefers the tiny kennel in the basement. More training will happen, and I hope he feels more comfortable in it with time.
