Last Sunday was the Great Lakes Woodworking Festival. It was a great day to learn about the Sam Beauford Woodworking Institute. There is quite the school setup for learning all sorts of the arts. This event was geared for woodworking and they showcased their woodshop. The display of tools was nice. Along with the hand tools they also have an assortment of power tools. A woodworkers dream. The turnout was great, and I hope next year is even bigger

Welding the metal legs has been a challenge.  The welding itself has been fine, except for controlling the heat.  When there is too much heat, the metal warps.  Maybe not all of the warping can be prevented at this point, but if I can minimize it to the point it isn’t noticed.  Heavy objects are nice for holding things in place.  Here a front end loader to a tractor was used to hold the metal in position to be tacked.  The more tacks the better.  Even though a bunch were added, it wasn’t enough to prevent all of the warping.  We can’t spend too much of our life dwelling on mistakes, we just need to deal with them.  This isn’t so bad.
